Our Favorite Products

Staying competition ready is not for the faint of heart. It requires a level of commitment that not every athlete has. It is a significant investment of time, money, and most of all - desire. While we love our time training our athletes, their work doesn’t end when they leave their training sessions with us. One of the most common questions that we get from parents is: “What should I have available for my kids when they’re not here?”

Simple. Great training doesn’t require a full home gym. In fact, some of the most engaging training for young athletes isn’t in a gym. Here are some of our favorite products that we use with our athletes designed to fit any budget:

  1. Fit Simplify Resistance Bands - These make a great addition to any athlete’s equipment. We utilize resistance loop bands in warm-ups, mobility exercises, and even to build strength in important muscles such as the hip flexors. We love the Fit Simplify brand because after trying what feels like hundreds of brands, these have been the most durable.

  2. Iron Flask Water Bottle - Let’s be honest…getting kids to hydrate isn’t all that different than trying to get them to eat their vegetables. Most kids drink when they’re thirsty and prefer sugary sports drinks that only cause them to crash. We are BIG fans of hydration and the multiple benefits it has on an athlete’s body, not least of which is their performance. While we encourage whatever vessel gets the most water in your athlete, these water bottles offer a variety of tops that can adjust to how they want to drink their water as well as keep it cool throughout their training sessions.

  3. Ice Packs - This may seem obvious, but ice packs are an essential part of any athlete’s bag. Especially in high-heat scenarios, ice packs can quickly cool the body temperature by putting them at key spots throughout the body. This can be a real relief when your athlete struggles with the heat.

  4. Foam Roller - Foam rolling is one of our favorite ways to work out tension, and soreness, or even just to activate muscles before training or competition. They also offer a great barrier to use when doing some of the mobility exercises we teach our athletes.

  5. Tennis Balls - I know, your kid doesn’t play tennis - why am I recommending tennis balls? Well, as any DPT athlete will tell you, tennis balls are one of our favorite agility tools we use with young athletes to help them build speed & agility. They also make great foot massagers when needed!

  6. CHAMPRO Reaction Ball - We absolutely rave about this tool with our athletes! With unpredictable bounce and height, this allows athletes to train their bodies to react to the unknown staying firm in their motions, yet light on their feet.

DPT athletes get the perk of working with SO much more when they come to train with us. Still, we wholeheartedly believe that training doesn’t stop when they leave us. Truly committed athletes need to do the work both at home and in the gym to be successful in today’s athletic landscape. Hope these help! Shoot us a message on Facebook or Instagram to tell us how these tools are making a difference for you!
